Bio - Shawn Tuttle, founder
Nobody knows this better than Shawn Tuttle. She knows it so well that she developed a whole business based on the philosophy that you can focus on your dreams and goals, rather than the obstacles.
“Let it be easy!” is the core sentiment behind her unique approach, and it comes from more than ten years of experience managing the things that strike fear into the heart of independent professionals everywhere: bookkeeping, organization, office management. Paperwork. Tax preparation. The little details. The big projects. Bureaucracy. Time management.
Shawn has worked with many small businesses and understands the varied approaches required for operation, prioritization, and flexibility. She has created, organized, maintained, and documented the major systems (bookkeeping, databases, filing etc.) for small businesses; she has monitored budgets and dealt with all the various items that run through the office of a statewide non-profit. She knows all the different tasks that can face businesses and organizations, because she has done all those tasks– as an employee, as a freelance consultant, and now as the head of her own business, solving the problems of other small businesses.
A liberal arts graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Shawn earned her BA in Classical Civilization graduating with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She also studied for a year at Università di Venezia in Venice, Italy. (Her studies have been helpful as she works to civilize the ancient ruins in the offices of small businesses across Northern California!) She has also completed a Permaculture Design Certification Course given by The Permaculture Institute of Northern California (PINC). Permaculture, and its focus on natural systems, is an important influence on Shawn’s vision for Project Simplify.
Shawn’s long history as a leader has included coordinating political campaigns in Santa Barbara County, leading bicycle tours across Europe, serving as President of a condominium association, and more recently, serving as Area 64 Governor for Toastmasters as well as the Board of Directors for the Nevada City Downtown Association. She has been independently working with clients for more than 7 years, and since 2004 has been the founder and Head Simplifier of Project Simplify.
Shawn’s other interests include cycling hills, a challenging match of tennis, sustainability in all facets of life, observing the natural world, and yoga–the last of which has become an integral part of her own path to “Let it be easy!”
