Been to one too many conferences? Tired of all the pomp and getting herded around from one session to the next? Tired of the sessions that almost have the subject right… but not quite? Well, hold on, because if you are in an industry using social media (if you aren’t maybe you should?!), a new kind of community conference is taking hold.

Have you heard of a BrainJam at an “Unconference”? Put together a bunch of creative, positively focused, tech-oriented people and give it a shake.

From BrainJams.org: “A BrainJams event is an unconference which combines knowledge networking and confersations in open spaces.”

Wikipedia says: “An unconference is a conference where the content of the sessions is driven and created by the participants, generally day-by-day during the course of the event, rather than by a single organizer, or small group of organizers, in advance.”

There’s been a saying floating around lately, I don’t even know where to go to reference it. It goes something like this: (insert saviour figure of choice here) is coming and its a committee.

The new world paradigm isn’t looking to an individual for salvation. The new world order isn’t going to be handed down by edict from a single person. “It” is us. You and me and him and her working together to create the world we want to live in.
