Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and her brain
Neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a woman dedicated to understanding the brain, had an amazing experience. She observed herself losing her faculties while having a stroke. What an incredible thing for someone who studies the brain to go through.
That happened in 1996. After 8 years, she had fully recovered. In February 2008, she gave a talk that you can view online at the TED conference (Technology, Entertainment, Design) in Monterey, CA. It’s a very cool talk highlighting the differences between the left and right hemisphere’s of the brain and how we relate to the world.
The message she shares is complimentary to simplifying: choice. What kind of life do you want to live? And when?
Check it out, she’s a delightful, colorful speaker. (And you get to see a real human brain!!!)
