Escape from Cubicle nation

Pam Slim, founder of a business called Ganas, writes a blog called Escape from Cubicle Nation. What can I say but Fresh! Here is a woman who has clearly found her passion in life and thrives on sharing it with others. Her writing is down to earth and fun to read.

She’s reaching out to anyone looking to develop their “ganas”, which, according to the sidebar on her website is spanish slang for 1. the intense desire to do something, 2. inner motivation, 3. exuberance, 4. drive. Now that’s good stuff!

From experience, I’ve found that simplifying is so much easier when I know what I’m moving towards. My life in my twenties was very simple. However, it was also characterized by an intense desire to do something “important”. This aimless drive was so distracting that I felt very little appreciation for the life I was living. Now that I’ve found my own ganas, I take great pleasure in enjoying life as much as possible. A big part of this means staying clear of activities and responsibilities that take rather than support my essential self–simplifying!

Pam writes regularly so there are plenty of posts more recent than this one, however, I want to call attention to her 7/31 post called Entrepreneurs who love too much: Tackling the dilemma of wanting to do it all. She highlights a very real problem for creatives: too many ideas, too little time! Her suggestions for working some solutions in this department show creativity and a solid understanding of the issue. Check it out!
