Adding the filepath to Word or Excel documents
How to include the filepath in a Word doc or Excel Spreadsheet.
Into an Excel Spreadsheet
• With the file open that you want to add the file path to,
• Under the View menu, select “Header and Footer…”
• Click the Customize Footer button,
• Click the cursor in the Left, Center or Right section.
• Click the button that looks like a blue file folder (above Center section– if you hover the cursor over it, it will say, “insert filepath”.
• another useful auto-text addition is the date (2 to the left of the blue folder–hover over and it says, “Insert date”
• When done entering your footer, click Ok, then Ok.
Into a Word doc
Begin the same way..
• With the file open that you want to add the file path to,
• Under the View menu, select “Header and Footer…”
and then it is a little different:
• You still see the document but it is faded gray and there is a box where a Header would go, and a box where the Footer will go (you may have to scroll down to see the Footer box).
• You should also see a menu bar that pops up. Click the button on the far left called AutoText and choose “filename and path”.
• When done entering your footer/header, click Close on the menu bar.
