A new year in the company of awesome women
A birthday week should be a good week. And last week was just that.
The flowers (yes, on a yellow legal pad–it’s all I had) popped on the page during early morning scum skimming session. [Skimming the scum is all the blah blah blah writing that I have to get out of my system before getting to something I feel is of some good. The flowers came at the very end of my writing session, once the gook was out of there.]
My intention for this upcoming year is to have fun. May my business grow and reflect all the interesting and entertaining adventures that happen when fun is had.
And if a situation isn’t necessarily inherently “fun” may I greatly enjoy the experience nonetheless. I think the trick for this one is to make sure the folks I associate with–in organized groups and socially–are respectful, good-humored people.
Speaking of awesome women (I was, wasn’t I?) We’ve had a few changes at our power chick office downtown. Kathy is so engrossed in SYRCL’s Wild and Scenic film festival that she has sublet her space to Karen Marinovich. Karen is applying her diverse Executive Director, development and corporate background to at least three different non-profits (one of which is the Center for Non-profit Leadership).
Kim Milligan, outgoing board president of SYRCL is moving in, as is Karin Kaufman who is a landscape architect. And of course we still have our most favorit-ist mayor ever Reinette Senum still in the space as well as Cara Wasilewski, the alternative fuel grant-writing queen who is currently applying her skills at Propel. Rock on, women!!
For the sake of a story, I’d like to share some dirt on these girls, except that they are beautifully and refreshingly drama-free. Except for Mayor Reinette, who’s always up to something. Got to keep the town on its toes, eh?
Here’s to a year of making waves, having fun, and making it the best year ever!
