Essential tool: our intuition
Generally speaking, when something feels right, go in that direction. If something feels ‘off’ or bad, don’t go in that direction.
What about that ‘ugh’ feeling or chronic procrastination with something that actually offers us challenge for growth? Being the dynamic humans that we are, growth is essential. And growth means venturing into the unknown—which can be something akin to pain at times. Sometimes we learn very powerful lessons in times of pain. Discomfort can also come from the shock of bursting through an old perception or hang-up, a burst that, once cleared, leads to improvement, empowerment and greater contribution to others.
Discernment comes in determining whether the uncomfortable feelings, hesitation, pangs of pain and/or procrastination are rooted in ‘don’t go there’ OR ‘personal challenge that contributes to my growth.’ Using the tools that work for you, ex. journaling, sitting quietly, walking in nature, working in the garden etc, you can learn to perceive the difference in yourself. And every time you take action that is based in your intuition, your intuition gets a little louder. Kind of a ‘thanks for paying attention!’ reward.
How does this relate to staying organized? Well, when you say (saucily I might add) that keeping your office organized is painful and you heard somewhere that pain means ‘don’t do it,’ and therefore this simply must be an activity to be avoided…. I’ll respond that once you bust through the Perception that it is painful and do it, you are, in fact, paving the way for improvement, empowerment, greater contribution to others… a big yes…
