Walking on the not-so-sunny days

The other day I found myself running around feeling frantic and stressed. A friend reminded me of Project Simplify. “Hunh,” I thought.

How do I coach people? What do I write about? What do I spend many hours of every waking hour pondering? How to stay true to purpose in a sustainable manner. Running around frantic and stressed was definitely not sustainable.

“Well, it’s just today,” I told myself. A big, resounding, Family Feud style triple X on that answer! Just about anyone can stay calm and present in the easy times. The $64,000 question is, how do we make the tough times easier on ourselves?

Then another friend told me an old buddhist saying, “It takes a lot longer to get where you are going if you only walk on the sunny days.” Ahh, thank you. If I were to write off every day that things weren’t going so well, it’d be slow going indeed.

So I put on a smile, asked myself to have some fun with the situations of the day, and kept on walking.
