PODS

Here’s an interesting option when moving: PODS. I’d heard or read about them in the not-so-distant past, and then, “Hey!” there’s one on my street:

It’s a pretty cool concept: portable storage containers.
The old option:rent a truck, load up your stuff, drive it to a storage unit, and then unload.

PODS option: they deliver POD to your house, you have it there as long as you need it, ground level walk-in, when you are ready for them to take it, they come pick it up and take it to your new residence or they can store it for you. Great idea if staging your house.

Sounds great! Why haven’t we heard more about them? I haven’t called them for a quote to know what the pricing is like. Are they reliable? Do they drop-off and pick-up as scheduled? How theft proof are they? The promo video calls the top a “heavy gauge roof” and the FAQ page calls it, “A specially engineered durable polymer translucent top permits daylight loading and is weather-resistant”–looks like a heavy duty vinyl/canvas. How much weight can it handle? Practically, I mean. Can you put all your heavy furniture in?

So many questions! If I see my neighbor, I’ll ask them how their experience has been. Good thing they are weather proof because we got an awesome (for our 2800 ft. elevation) amount of snow this afternoon and evening! Fun fun fun.

SAM is located in many cities across the country and quickly expanding. There is a list on their website of locations. I think it may even have future openings. Not sure that they are in Nevada city yet but I’m sure they’ll be in your area soon.

It doesnt look like SAM keeps the container level while loading and unloading it on the truck like the PODs do.
