Energy efficiency at home
Last month a solar system was installed on my south facing roof. While it was being installed, I took a photo and sent it in to The Union, our local newspaper, with the caption:
This 100+ year old house in Nevada City is entering the 21st Century with gusto. Homeowner Shawn Tuttle had Next Energy, Inc. install a 12-panel system on, possibly, the most visible roof on E. Broad Street. PG&E meter running backwards, she was thrilled that the NC (Nevada City) Planning Commission was supportive of her commitment to using the sun, a sustainable energy source to power her home.

They didn’t print the photo and I thought, “oh well, it was worth a try.”
This past Tuesday I received a call from Union reporter, Jill Bauerle, who wanted to follow up for a story to be printed today, Thursday. I didn’t know if it was part of another story or what, and made an appointment to talk with her yesterday.
You can imagine my surprise to find that it was printed front page!
UPDATE: The Union also published an online slideshow of pictures to go along with the article. :-)
