Project Simplify now a Chamber member

In the blossoming adventures of speaker-dom, I’m looking to raise awareness of my business in the local geographical area. Up to this point, I’ve solely relied on word of mouth (and the occasional newspaper articles) to spread the word.

This month I joined the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. I figure this ought to provide some good opportunities to share the ease and benefits of simplifying in front of groups (or one-to-one).

New chamber member

I’m in the Organizing Services category which is good, however they lump household and business together which can be a bit misleading. Seeing as there are only three of us in the category, further breakdown wouldn’t be too practical. I’m guessing the other two are more residential-oriented, though one is a concierge service and the other doesn’t provide a description, so I’m not sure.

We’ll see where it leads and what opportunities arise. =)

Front page of the biz section!

Our local paper, The Union, gave fellow organizer Amelia Barrett and myself front page coverage of the Business Section today! The article, by Greg Moberly, is entitled Everything in its Place.

Upcoming press

Another organizer in the area, Amelia Barrett, and I were interviewed by Greg Moberly, a reporter with our local paper (The Union) today. If all goes as planned, a story should be in or on the front page of the Business section next Tuesday.

A quick tip: if you know you are going to be meeting with a reporter, get your contact info, speaking points, and some ready-to-use quotes typed up on a page. Scan during the interview to make sure you covered everything you wanted to. Then, offer the page to them for easy reference. Considering how much they report on, it’s not likely that they’ll have expert knowledge on your subject!

NMBPW talk follow up

For the archives.

The Northern Mines Business and Professional Women submitted this blurb to The Union newspaper about my talk there in July.

Front page!

Oooohhhh, I’ve been remiss. I received the honor of front page, above-the-fold press last week and haven’t reported it here on my own website. Busted!

I thought I’d scan in the hard copy, then Photoshop froze, and, well, logistically, it proved to be a bit much amidst the flurry of last week’s activity. So scan be hanged! Here’s a link to the Union’s article written by Dixie Redfearn, “Cutting out the Clutter”.

While ALL the words in the article weren’t mine, all in all, I’m pleased with the coverage. It’s a bit heavy on the space organizing side of the business and a little neglectful of the simplifying aspect… but I trust the time will come when simplifying Project Simplify style will see its day.

In the Union as Toastmaster

We like to have fun at our Toastmasters meetings! I got to be “vivacious” that day. :)

News item about organizing workshop for parents

Here’s a belated posting of some of the press coverage that preceded Shawn’s organizing workshop for parents a while back. We’ve been trying to smush out the wrinkles in this clipping, but didn’t have much success with that, so here it is with wrinkles and all. (The wrinkles give it character…yeah, that’s it!)
