Project Simplify now a Chamber member

In the blossoming adventures of speaker-dom, I’m looking to raise awareness of my business in the local geographical area. Up to this point, I’ve solely relied on word of mouth (and the occasional newspaper articles) to spread the word.

This month I joined the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. I figure this ought to provide some good opportunities to share the ease and benefits of simplifying in front of groups (or one-to-one).

New chamber member

I’m in the Organizing Services category which is good, however they lump household and business together which can be a bit misleading. Seeing as there are only three of us in the category, further breakdown wouldn’t be too practical. I’m guessing the other two are more residential-oriented, though one is a concierge service and the other doesn’t provide a description, so I’m not sure.

We’ll see where it leads and what opportunities arise. =)

Freelance Office Help Wanted

We just posted an ad for freelance office assistance for the Nevada County area. The Simplifier training program is in the works and slated for completion in the not too distant future… in the meantime, clients are wanting help! They love that their offices are now organized, but realize that maintaining is easier with some competent, cheerful assistance.

The full ad posting is here.

Major new Novamind versions released

The good folks at Novamind have released new versions of their mind-mapping software for both Windows and Mac OS. The Windows version is an upgrade from the “early adopter” phase to the full release, while the Mac version is touted as “a *major* upgrade with a completely new user interface, and over 50 new features”. Sounds pretty big!

Both new versions are available for download on our Novamind page. If you haven’t taken Novamind out for a free test drive yet, maybe now’s the time to give it a try.

New “Project: Simplify” Posters

Three new “Project: Simplify” poster designs have been added to our posters page. These colorful printables are available for free download as PDF files (viewable with the ultra-common Acrobat Reader). You can choose between the full page style or a 4-to-a-page “postcard” style for each one. Here are thumbnail images of the new designs:

New Blog Categories

Part of staying organized is re-evaluating every now and then to make sure your system supports your current state of affairs. It was that kind of re-appraisal that led us to add a few new categories to our blog, to help us with filing things properly, and to help visitors find things more easily.

Here are the recent batch of new categories. They are now included in the list under “Blog Categories” in the site sidebar. Click on a link to see what’s happening in any given category.

Combine cell data in Excel

I’ve just posted the instructions for an Excel command to combine the contents of different cells into one.

While the example situation is for mailing list structuring, I know that I’ve wondered how to do this in the past for different reasons, though specifics elude me at the moment. Call me a geek if you will, but I was excited to see this work for the first time!

The page is the second to be added to the Instructions page–a page which will continue to grow.
