    Getting back to the foundation

“Foundation first” isn’t a one time, never think about it again kind of thing. Us silly humans like to forget some of the brilliant systems we’ve set up to help us stay sane, productive, and (gasp!) make dreams happen.
For example, my systems were supporting a certain level of activity just fine, (served well in [...]

Unwanted phone calls and junk faxes

Not only do unwanted calls from telemarketers take your time and interrupt your groove, they can be a source of frustration if you feel helpless to deal with them. Here are some resources to get in control of your phone lines.
    Do Not Call Registry
You’ve probably already heard about the Do Not Call Registry. For [...]

    Email gets easier–filters!

Love it or hate (or both within 15 seconds) email happens. Whether we think email is new wonder of the world or the bane of our existence, developing good email habits is crucial for our sanity and well-being.
As I see it, the goal is to keep email in the category of “Communication tool” [...]

    The email saga continues

I recently did the big switch from Entourage to the native Mac programs: Address Book, iCal, and Mail.app. One thing I appreciated about Entourage was having these all under the same roof, so to speak. I wasn’t tabbing between open applications. While I don’t know what the difference is in running power, I prefer [...]

    Step by step by step

This is the process I went through to do the Big Switch, i.e. get the data out of Entourage and into the Mac app suite (iCal, Mail, Address Book) and onto my phone. It turned into, more or less, an all weekend adventure.
    Tech specs:
    Entourage 2004
    Mac OS X 10.4.11
    Palm Treo 755p
    iSync 2.4
    Palm Desktop 4.2.2
    Step #1
    Make sure [...]

The Big Switch has been made

The big switch has been made. I am completely out of Entourage (Microsoft’s version of Outlook for Mac) and now on Mac’s Mail, Address Book, and iCal.
[** see end note to follow up on previous post The Big Switch]
I’m soooo glad I allowed lots o’time to troubleshoot and complete the process because it [...]

    Getting prepared for emergencies

While researching emergency disaster kits, I found the following from FEMA.
You can download the 4 page pdf here.
I’m impressed by the thoroughness of the list which concludes with a section called: Create a Family Disaster Plan on the fourth page. This includes things like pre-determined meeting places and out-of-state check in people.
    The one thing [...]
