Tracking pending items in your email program

Here’s a quick and easy tip to track information/question requests that you send out via email.

  • set up a folder in your email program called Pending
  • every time you send an email in which you are requesting a response, bcc: yourself
  • when you receive the message in your inbox, transfer it to your Pending folder
  • establish a regular day, or days, of the week on which you check your pending folder and follow up as necessary
  • delete the emails of completed requests so that the folder stays fresh and current
