Are you your car?
For some people it’s a given. For some people it’s a blind spot. Wherever you are on the spectrum, your car says something about you. Organizers have extra pressure because you can bet that clients will walk you out to your car on a first appointment to see if you walk your talk.
The car with a clean exterior and an orderly interior says something along the lines of “this person cares about the impression they make” or “this person is a control freak” or “this must be a rental car that was picked up this morning”.
Keeping your car clean means that you don’t have to make a big effort when you want to make a good impression. Some simple things to incorporate into your flow: Pull out everything that doesn’t belong when you get home. Wash car regularly. Remember to vacuum. Use containers for things you carry around regularly. Include the trunk in your clean-out activities.
Keeping your clean means you have one less thing to think about when running a few minutes behind schedule for a client appointment. And it feels makes your car feel more spacious. =)
