Simply Coffee
“12 oz double latte” is something I say quite frequently (with a packet of Sugar in the Raw stirred into the espresso before the milk is poured in). Makes me think of one of the Software programs seen at the MacWorld show. With this software, you can key in all kinds of “hot” buttons–push a key on the keyboard and a preprogrammed sequence is automatically entered for you– just like you could (I assume still can) program the function keys on the keyboard. Startly Technologies has expanded this functionality and allows for macros (longer sequences).
So how about the human version? (is this getting too lazy? A frivolous use of technology?) I push my left thumbnail and the message is conveyed “12 oz double latte with a packet of Sugar in the Raw stirred into the espresso before the milk is poured in.” [note this is irrelevant at Java John’s in Nevada City because not only do they make the most consistently excellent espresso drinks than any café I’ve frequented on a regular basis, they are also admirably customer oriented and know what my drink is. Yes, I’m a “regular.”]
Tip: Run a tab or buy a gift card for yourself. Why?
- Eliminate the cash hunt (through your car, bag, wherever)
- Be aware of how much cash is going to your caffeine habit (what about “decaf”? Should be illegal.)
- Easily keep track of café expenses (one check or CC transaction replacing a gazillion) a sure bookkeeper pleaser
- Keep your wallet slim (I know you are keeping your receipts for tracking purposes!?!!)
- Stop by the café in a spontaneous moment. Say you had great intentions and left the house to go for a run. You don’t have cash on you because who needs cash on a run? After a few blocks you find yourself passing your café of choice. All of a sudden you decide that this is a newspaper and coffee morning after all, your bill is covered!
reminders: Ask to add a buck on for tip. If you have a tab, settle up monthly.
