Mac keyboard shortcuts

Maybe it was because the sun was out after a couple days of gray sky, but I was overtaken by the urge to purge… semi-forgotten cabinets that is. In the midst of a pile of papers referring to an iMac I sold in 2001, I ran across a page of handwritten notes with shortcut keys. Recorded back in the days of Mac OS 8, would they still work? Yes! Wow. I do hereby pass them on to thee.

Many thanks to Wikipedia for provding the names of the diacritical marks.

  • ` (above the “tab” key) = ì (same as acute accent above. hit Option key + `, let go of Option key, then type i, or whatever letter you want the grave accent over)
  • u = ü (same as above for accents, hit Option key + u, let go of Option key, then type u, or whatever letter you want the umlaut symbol over)
  • n = ñ (same as above for accents, hit Option key + n, let go of Option key, then type n, or whatever letter you want the tilde symbol over)
  • i = î (same as above for accents, hit Option key + i, let go of Option key, then type i, or whatever letter you want the circumflex symbol over)
